Confederate History Month Celebrated in Villa Rica.

Every year the Mayor of Villa Rica, honors the
first Mayor of Villa Rica, by placing a wreath at his grave in Hillcrest Cemetery on Confederate Memorial Day. 

Mayor Jay Collins, pictured at right, at the grave, of Mayor Nathaniel Harbin Humphries. Mayor Humphries served as a 2nd Lieutenant; Co. D 10th Reg. Georgia State Guards.
Apr. 2011 ........ Mayor Collins is also a member of Forrest's Escort Camp

2011 MEMORIAL BRICK FUNDRAISER  

BRICKS ARE AVAILABLE FOR A DONATION OF $25.00 EACH BRICK.

BRICKS WILL BE ARRANGED IN AN ATTRACTIVE NEW SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF HISTORIC WICK’S TAVERN IN VILLA RICA, GEORGIA LEADING FROM THE DRIVEWAY TO THE FLAGPOLE.

 

THIS PROJECT WILL BE A LASTING MEMORIAL TO OUR CONFEDERATE ANCESTORS AND WILL PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE UPKEEP OF WICK’S TAVERN ON WEST WILSON STREET, THE OLDEST COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE IN WEST GEORGIA (CONSTRUCTED IN 1830).   THANK YOU!  Your support of Wick’s Tavern and Forrest’s Escort, Sons of Confederate Veterans is greatly appreciated!
